Table of contents for The Large Time Signature
- Creating a Large Time Signature Part 1
Finale, being the amazingly flexible program that it is, gives the user three different ways to create time signatures that are over-sized. The first option utilizes a staff that is already in the score for the time signature. The second option adds a new hidden staff and the third option creates shape expressions.
I have posted a video that walks through the steps for the first option, utilizing a staff the is presently in the score.

There are essentially two ways to create a mid-score pickup measure within Finale.
The easiest way is to use the Plugin>>Split Measure option. The more involved way entails manually setting the time signature for the two measures to create the look and correct playback of a mid-score pickup.

Entering a tuplet on beat 4 seems to give many people issues. I think the main reason behind this is the confusion between the few different ways that one can enter tuplets within a measure.
Here is a short video covering a few techniques on how to enter in a tuplet on beat 4.
