Scanning - Java not Initializing Error on Windows

This error looks like it is specifically linked to bug in Microsoft’s Cumulative Security Update for Windows, which causes errors in memory management when using Java.

There is no “fix”, but I do think that there is a way around the issue.

Finale 2008B for Mac Re-released!

The update is now available here!

Finale 2008 - B Update **UPDATED**

It appears that an update was released for the Mac only, but was taken down from the website.

I called into tech support and they verified that they had found an issue with the installer and removed the update immediately to fix the issue.

Using Full GPO and JABB within Kontakt 2

At this point everyone should be using the Kontakt Player 2 if you are using Finale 2008 or 2007 - so this topic only applies if you are using an older version of Garritan Personal Orchestra and Jazz & Big Band that used the Kontakt Player 1. If you purchased a copy along with Finale 2008 the Kontakt Player 2 was already included.

The advantages to using the Kontakt Player 2 are numerous, but the two major reasons to update to the KP2 is the full use of the 16 channels within each instance of the KP2 (this was limited to 8 channels in the KP1) and the second is the ability to draw from all of the VST’s and AU’s on your system within each instance of the KP2 so it is much easier to mix-and-match sounds from different libraries. The update process is a little tricky, after all, we are talking about three different companies, but this post will guide you through the steps necessary to have your Garritan VST’s and AU’s appear directly in the Kontakt Player 2.

Nota bene: The Kontakt Player 2 is a different product from the Native Instruments Kontakt 2 (now Kontakt 3), which is a very cool, powerful stand-alone sampler - just with a confusing name!
