Luckily, this quick tip is easier than saying the title of the post fast three times!
So you have a score that contains a horn and trumpet part, but you are missing that sound that is going to tie the piece together - ahhh, sand block. Since Window’s operating systems do not have any direct to PDF functionality, it is necessary to utilize a third party program that will allow the creation of PDF files. Luckily, there are many free options that perform wonderfully!

One of the most important tools for the modern composer, engraver and educator, besides Finale of course, is……the computer. Unfortunately, too many of us are too busy worrying about voice leading or grace note placement to pay any attention to the primary piece of hardware that our world revolves around. Finale will only work as well as the piece of hardware that it is running upon so it is important to dedicate some time to not only maintaining the computer, but adjusting the settings to maximize its performance. I had a client just call in an absolute panic - her music would not display clefs or time signatures and her note heads were gone. She was also receiving an error message that sounded terrible to her:
